Kawasan Falls And Badian Canyoneering - This Is Where The Fun Begins In Cebu!

When you visit Cebu, one of the best activity you can engage in is the Badian Canyoneering.  It is a highly recommended activity that includes trekking, cliff jumping, and swimming your way to shallow and deep waters to the Kawasan Falls.

Watch this YouTube video of my Badian Canyoneering experience:

Here are the rates for the Canyoneering Package:
  • PHP 1,500 Pesos per person (groups of three people or more)
  • PHP 1,800 Pesos per person (2 people)
  • PHP 2,500 Pesos  for a single person
The package includes the following:
  • Transport from Badian to Kawasan Falls
  • Guide or guides depending on your group size
  • Life Vest
  • Safety Helmet
  • Mountaineering Sandals

All guests are required to register at the starting point as well as to have a short orientation on what to expect of the activity.  Before you head to the actual falls area, there is a 20-30 minute uphill trek with incredible views of the mountain side.  You also chose to skip the trek and ride a zip line instead for additional PHP 550.  I chose to do the trek for the much needed exercise.

After the trek, you'll reach the start off point of the falls area.  This is where the fun really starts!  The sound of the waters rushing through the terrain and the sight of the beautiful rock formations will start to pump up your excitement.

The whole Canyoneering activity usually takes 3-4 hours depending on your pace.  The canyon where the water rapids are at is a series of cliff jumps, wading through the cool waters, walking to slippery rocks and trekking to forest trails.  The activity requires physical exertions, so you must be fit to complete it.  The guides are very friendly and they will assist you all throughout the activity.  You will have a hard time doing this activity without the guides as they know the safest paths to take.

As you descend closer to Kawasan Falls, you'll notice that the waters are getting bluer.  These waters are one of the bluest I've ever seen for a waterfall.  You encounter more cliff jumps and rope swings as you go on.

Finally, after the long strenuous but fun filled activity, you'll reach the famous Kawasan Falls.  This waterfalls is one of the most famous in Cebu.  The actual Kawasan Falls is composed of two levels.  The first level is a 40-meter drop and is the main attraction.  The second level has a smaller tier of 20 meters in height and is the less crowded among the two.

If you like to skip the canyoneering activity, you can just visit Kawasan Falls directly.  Entrance fees are PHP 45 for foreigners and PHP 20 for locals.

This trip was part of a 3-Day Cebu Adventure tour.  I have booked a worry free adventure that was organized by CEBU TOUR KUYA KEVS.  To know more, just visit their facebook page:

Here are some tips when you do the Badian Canyoneering and Kawasan Falls activity:

  1.  Aside from the fees that i mentioned from the blog above, bring some extra cash for food and water.  The activity takes 3-4 hours to finish and you will be hungry and thirsty along the way.  If you did not bring any cash with you, you can ask your guide to ask the stores to take credit for you.  Just make sure to pay back the guide after you finish the activity.
  2. The activity requires you to be physically fit.  You will be doing a lot of trekking, cliff jumping, sliding to slippery rocks, and swimming through running current.  So, if you have injuries or if you feel you cannot physically finish the activity, you can just go straight to the Kawasan Falls and relax there.
  3. As much as possible pack light.  If you do the canyoneering, there will be no lockers to leave your things.  I also suggest to have a waterproof bag to place all your things as you will have to carry it along and it can get wet.
  4. Guides will assist you with the canyoneering activity.  I suggest that you always have them because they all know the safest paths and routes to get to Kawasan Falls.  And if you really had a good experience with them, please give them extra or tip.  These local guides are essential to the tourism business and they need all the help we can provide.
  5. This activity is best done during the dry season from January to April.  Rains can ruin this activity.  Not only will the terrain be more slippery, but the waters will be muddy and take out the turquoise blue waters.
  6. Do this activity as early as you can as long as you have sunlight so that you experience the spectacular views.  Also, being more early means you go ahead with the huge crowds on the later part on the day.
  7. Bring your action camera to capture all the precious moments.  You can ask your guide to assist you in taking pictures and videos.
