Salt Lake City, the capital of the state Utah, is definitely unusual,
from its location in a blazing hot desert and proximity to mountain sports
to its home as one of the U.S.'s most influential native-born
religions. Salt Lake City was founded on July 1847, by early
Mormon settlers. Although Salt Lake City is a famous winter
destination, it also favorable to visit during the summer which the time we
are visiting. Here are some of the places we went to during our visit.
UTAH STATE CAPITOL
One of the impressive buildings in Salt Lake City is the Utah State Capitol.
You can walk around the capitol grounds and admire the majestic
building. The courtyard is also a good place to chill out.
Across the capitol, there is also a souvenir shop with cool items that you
can buy. Guide tours are also available from Monday to Friday between
10AM to 3PM. We visited during the weekend so we just explored the
expansive grounds.

TEMPLE SQUARE
Another majestic landmarks to check out in Salt Lake City is the Temple
Square. Temple Square is the five-block area surrounding the
Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in
downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Temple Square is the most
visited attraction in Utah, with an estimated 3 to 5 million regional,
national, and international visitors each year. The 40-acre complex
is considered as one of the most beautiful markers in Salt Lake City.

WORLD'S FIRST KFC
Built in 1952, Salt Lake City is home to the first ever KFC.
Although it has been renovated to a modern KFC restaurant right now, it is
still cool to visit and dine at the original KFC franchise
restaurant.

CITY CREEK CENTER
The City Creek Center is the premier shopping center in Salt Lake
City. It is a world-class fashion and dining destination in the
heart of Salt Lake City, offering over 100 stores and restaurants.
Definitely something worth to check out when you are visiting Salt Lake
City.

BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS
When you visit Salt Lake City, one attraction that is worth the side trip
is the Bonneville Salt Flats. It is 1hr and 30 mins and 120 miles
west of SLC. The salt flats are about 12 miles long and 5 miles
wide and are comprised mostly of sodium chloride, or table
salt. The flats can easily be seen as you drive I-80 between
Salt Lake City and Wendover, NV.

UTAH OLYMPIC PARK
The Utah Olympic Park is an attraction just 25 miles outside Salt Lake
City. It was built to host the 2002 Olympic Winter
Games. Utah Olympic Park is a dynamic multi-use facility
focused on developing and growing participation in winter sports.
Some of the thrilling activities include, Bobsled, Zipline,
Alpine Slide Rides, Adventure Courses, Drop Tower, and Extreme Tubing. Park Tickets are $20 per adult and $15 per youth. There will be additional cost for the activities, but you can purchase packages in their website: https://utaholympiclegacy.org/

Here are some travel tips when you are visiting Salt Lake City Utah:
- Salt Lake City is a year round destination. Although it is famous as a winter destination, visiting in the summer is also as pleasant.
- Many business establishments are closed on Sundays so make the necessary preparations if needed.
- Alcohol laws in Salt Lake City are different. The ABV of beer sold in bars and stores, for instance, can’t exceed 4.0%, which is far below the ABV of most domestic craft beers. In order to purchase wine, liquor, and > 5% alcoholic beers, you need to visit the liquor store. These liquor stores are run by the state, have limited hours, and are closed on Sundays. It is also important to note that shipping alcohol to Utah is illegal.
- The best way to get around Salt Lake City is by public transportation or with a car. The TRAX light rail system runs through the heart of downtown, putting you within an easy walk of many dining and nightlife options. And best of all, it's free in the downtown area. Although, it is not open on Sundays. Lyft and Uber are also available to get around the city.
- Weather in Salt Lake City is colder than most states in the US. The coldest month is on January when it can drop to 21 deg F and the warmest month is on July where the temp can rise to 90 deg F.
- Unlike the sleepless nights in New York and Los Angeles, Salt Lake City is more of a conservative city. Most establishments closes early and on holidays. There are several night scenes but is limited. If you are doing a public transport going to these night activities mare sure to book it in advance.
- The best way to enjoy Salt Lake City is by walking and exploring, so be prepared for long walks and hikes to their famous attractions.
