Peppery Thai Bistro - Siam Paragon Bangkok Thailand

Before we leave Bangkok, we must try one of my favorite soup dish one last time.  I'm talking about Tom Yum Goong, a spicy-sour soup that is one of the most famous Thai dishes of all time.  While passing the time before our flight we visited Siam Paragon Mall and searched for a restaurant with good Tom Yum.  We stumbled upon Peppery Thai Bistro, and decided to dine here.

Of course we ordered what we came for, the Tom Yum Goong and some other dishes which we believe are their specialties.

The food really taste great! Although I think the Thai dishes here have a more modern touch to it.  But for me, I like it.  The Tom Yum Goong was fantastic.  I think I finished the whole bowl.  The mix of traditional and modern cooking of Peppery Thai Bistro works for me. This caps of our last but not least meal in Bangkok.

Price:  7/10 (price a little bit on the high side)

Overall:  7.83/10 (worth trying)

Baan Khanitha By The River - Asiatique Bangkok Thailand

Thai cuisine is one of my favorite so far.  Probably in my top 5 dishes of all time.  And when in Bangkok, we wanted to experience authentic Thai cuisine.  We searched the internet for restaurants and come to this restaurant in Asiatique along Chao Phraya River called Baan Khanitha By The River.

There were a lot of customers when we arrived as it is at the peak of dinner time at 7pm.  But we were seated in no time because the restaurant has a huge seating capacity.  I was so excited to choose from their menu and decided to ordered the following:


Tom Kha Khung Nang - River Prawn Soup with Coconut Milk

Phad Priew Wan Moo - Stir-Fried Pork with Sweet and Sour Sauce

Poo Nim Phad Sauce Makham - Stir-Fried Soft Shelled Crab with Tamarind Sauce topped with Crispy Mint

Khao Niew Mamwang Ice Cream Gati - Mango and Sticky Rice with Coconut Ice Cream

As expected, I love the taste of everything we ordered.  But what stood out the most is the Soft Shelled Crab with Tamarind Sauce and the Mango & Sticky Rice with Coconut Ice Cream.  I'm really beginning to love Thai cuisine more and more.  I can't wait to try out new Thai dishes when I come back to Thailand.

Price:  7/10 (price on the high side since its a fine dinning restaurant)

Overall:  8.17/10 (worth trying)

Sky Bar At Lebua State Tower - Bangkok Thailand

During our stay in Bangkok, we stayed for a night in Lebua at State Tower and were gived complimentary drinks to the Sky Bar.  The Sky Bar is the highest bar in Bangkok and one of the highest in the world.  It is suspended 820 feet at the top of Lebua at State Tower and provides exceptional views of the Bangkok skyline.

There is a dress code in the bar.  You are not allowed to wear sports or athletic clothing like open shoes (for men), sandals, flip-flops, shorts, torn clothing, sleeveless shirts (for men).  Everyone must wear smart casual in the bar.

The Sky Bar is also well known as a set in the Hollywood blockbuster 'Hangover II'.  Which they based 2 of their signature cocktails, the Hangovertitni and the Dome Mojito.  So, for our free drinks, we ordered just that.

If you are in Bangkok, it is recommended that you visit the Sky Bar in Lebua at State Tower and experience drinking with a view.

Bangkok - Touring The City Of Angels

Finally got the chance to visit Bangkok. This city is known for their temples, floating markets, river cruises, and great food.  So, that's what I'm here for.  For this trip, I didn't made much planning because I thought since this is a popular city for tourists, most attractions would be very accessible with ease.

Day 1, we decided to visit the floating market.  The most popular one is the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, so we decided to go there.  We availed a guided joining tour to go to the floating market.  Several stops were made before we headed to the floating market as part of the guided tour.  First stop was the Coconut Sugar Farm and Souvenir Shop:

Next stop, we headed for Chang Puak Camp.  Here, there are several activities to do like, ATV riding, crocodile show, animal feeding, and elephant riding.

Then, we headed to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. To go there, we rode a motorized long tail boat.

At the Floating Market, unfortunately, there were less vendors than we expected, mainly because we arrived late in the morning around 10am.  According to the guide, it would have been better if we arrived early morning around 6-7am to see more vendors on their boats.

After exploring the floating market, we decided to have a snack.

After the floating market, we had one more stop before heading back to our hotel.  We dropped by the Gem Gallery.  Here lies one of the largest gallery of gems and jewelry in Bangkok. Here they have a film showing on how gems are mined and made into jewelries.

After the day tour, we head back to our hotel to rest for a bit while waiting for our scheduled dinner cruise on the Choaphraya River.

In the evening we headed to the River City Pier for our Chaophraya River Dinner Cruise by the Chaophraya Princess Cruise Boat.  Here's their Itinerary:

7:00pm - Check in at River City Pier 1, Siphraya (Charoen Krung 30 Rd.).

7:30pm - Departure River City Pier. 

7:45pm - Dinner: Select desired dishes from international buffet bar while enjoying live music and river cruise.

9:30pm - Arrive back at River City Pier.

Day 2, we visited some of the famous temples in Bangkok.  The best way to get to the temples in Bangkok is by riding the Chaophraya Tourist Boat.  For 150 Baht, you will have a one-day unlimited access to the piers along the Chaophraya River.  Click this link to know more about The Chaophraya Tourist Boat Route and Time Table - http://www.chaophrayaexpressboat.com/en/tourist/index.asp

The Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) is a few minutes walk from the Maharaj Pier drop point.  Entrance Fee is 500 baht / person.

Shoes are not allowed inside the temples so you need leave them outside

Next we head off to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha or Wat Pho.  From Grand Palace, you can walk or ride a tuktuk to head to Wat Pho. From Chaophraya River you drop off on Tha Tien Pier.  The highlight of this temple is the 46-meter long reclining golden Buddha.

Due to our time constraint, we needed to head back to our hotel to check-out and check-in to a new hotel @ Lebua State Tower.  After transferring, we had a bit of time to relax and again enjoy the view from our hotel room.

In the evening we head for Asiatique Night Market.

After Asiatique, its time to cap off the night with our complimentary drinks at the Sky Bar.  It's a roof top bar at Lebua State Tower made famous by hosting the Hollywood film, Hangover 2.

Unfortunately, our time is short.  There are a lot more things to do and more places to visit here in Bangkok.  If you ask me If I want to go back to Bangkok, my answer is YES, definitely.  Most probably I would visit the rest of Thailand too.
